Okay, I was a child in the 80’s and my whole family loved Star Wars, but I don’t remember watching it before I was 7 or 8 years musty. My husband is a sizable Star Wars fan (not fanatic), and was speedy to introduce our dinky boy to everything Star Wars. Our son, who’s 3 1/2 years worn now, loves watching the movies, but he’s objective not primitive enough to fully understand some of the more scary/violent parts and I don’t like him sitting in front of the TV for a couple hours at a time.

This dvd is PERFECT for children. It is hosted by C-3PO and R2-D2 who record and define each of the movies in 10 slight segments, showing highlights from each movie (except Episode 3 which hadn’t been released yet) . My boy loves it and asks to contemplate it almost every day, and it’s nice to have a Star Wars ‘movie’ that’s so kindly for children, PLUS we don’t have to be in the same room to hasty forward through any scary parts. I admire it.
This is one of those rare items that has absolutely no reason to exist whatsoever. I got it at Wal-Mart for like, $3.00 when I bought Episode 3 on DVD, expecting it to be supplimental features explaining the history slow making the movies. I wasn’t expecting remarkable since it was a “Wal-Mart unfamiliar,” meaning it probably was leftovers that weren’t kindly enough to build the nick on the exact DVDs, but peaceful, for an extra $3, I figured it was a suited enough deal.
I WAS Outrageous!

This is simply a video of C-3PO and R2-D2 telling an abbreviated version of the Star-Wars saga, with clips from the movie thrown in. It is obviously intended for children who have absolutely no taste. WHY Gape THIS WHEN YOU CAN Peer THE Trusty MOVIES!?! Maybe in 10 years this will be a nifty collector’s gimmick like the Star Wars video board game, or the Star Wars Holiday Special, but if you’re hoping that this will actually scratch your Star Wars itch, gaze elsewhere. The only other design I can recommend this disc is, is if you don’t worship your kids enough to give them the exact Star Wars movies.

I must agree with everyone who wrote reviews on this movie that it is not at all like the book by Dumas, but I don’t assume that’s a edifying reason not to like this movie. It’s lots of fun and has plenty of action and adventure. And I assume that’s it’s not only spacious for kids but for teenagers and adults alike.
Here’s the summary of “The Three Musketeers”. Chris O’Donnel is D’Artagnan, a young, brash, proud, yet brave ‘kid’ whose only dream is to become one of the king’s musketeers. But when he gets to Paris, he finds that the musketeers have been disbanded by the young King Louis’s (Hugh O’Conor) immoral Cardinal, Richelieu (Tim Curry) . But three musketeers who are the best of friends, Athos (Kiefer Sutherland), Aramis (Charlie Sheen), and Porthos (Oliver Platt), are suspicious of Cardinal Richelieu and his henchman Rochefort (Michael Wincott) . D’Artagnan is place in jail for fighting the Cardinal’s guards with the three musketeers. Though he tries to elope yet fails, he is able to overhear the Cardinal’s concept to select over the throne, building an alliance with the Duke of Buckingham by device of a special courier, Lady DeWinter (Rebecca De Mornay) . And before D’Artagnan is executed, Athos, Aramis, and Porthos rescue him and together plot out to conclude Richelieu’s look. They do intercept her, finding out that Lady DeWinter was actually Athos’s wife, whom had betrayed him and him sending her away. At the last moment they catch out that the Cardinal is planning to have the king assisinated on his birthday. The four men return as rapidly as possible to Paris and with the abet of all the musketeers, end Richelieu.
As I said, though this movie has plenty of comic and amusing parts, it serene has plenty of action and adventure, with a touch of romance here and there. The fighting is really satisfactory, and the acting was terrific, especially all the three musketeers, Tim Curry, and Michael Wincott. I adore the endless small ‘extras’ Porthos always has with him!

An exquisite film which is very involving! I also recommend for you to gawk “The Three Musketeers” which was made in the early 1970’s.
Alexandre Dumas may or may have not liked the Disney version of his fable, but your whole family should. This often remade classic is more comedic in this version. I personally liked it. But then I have liked most versions in their style. The 1973 version with Oliver Reed as Athos and this version with Keifer Sutherland as Athos stand out above the rest in my humble plan. The 1973 version for the drama and this one for the comedy.
Tim Curry is genuine as Cardinal Richelieu. He is so borderline outrageously lecherous you assume he is going to burst out laughing like a madman or go into song from “The Rocky Terror Describe Present”. He never plays the piety like Charlton Heston did in the 1973 version. He goes more for the deviousness of an outright power exasperated religious leader.

The entire cast is mammoth. With Charlie Sheen, Chris O’Donnell, Oliver Platt, and Rebecca DeMornay how could it be anything but well acted. I would bet the entire cast had a grand time filming this version. The dramatic parts with DeMornay as Lady DeWinter are quite touching and the comedic parts with Porthos the Pirate, played by Platt, are quite silly. I was impressed with Stephen Herek’s direction.
Disney did a astronomical job of transferring this movie to DVD. The DVD report and sound quality is first class. The DVD includes a featurette, theatrical trailers, and Bios. Well worth adding to your collection of movies like “The Princess Bride”, “Ever After”, and “Robin Hood”.

I am a lover of the Spaghetti Western. They have ranged from graphically violent to campy and comedy. They have a style of filming that makes them distinguishable from any other Western. By 1977 they had seen their day arrive and go. So “Mannaja”, was one of the last of it’s kind, and gives the genre one heck of a send off! It’s a brutal gape at the West, and it’s action packed(and even has a diminutive romance, but honest a dinky) .
A man called Blade(Maurizio Merli), gets his name because he is an expert with a hatchet. He’s a bounty hunter and catches a very critical outlaw, by tossing his hatchet, quicker and more accurately then any gunman can method on him. And… relieving the abominable guys of body parts while he is at it. With his prisoner in tow, and one hand short, he enters a mining town, that has no lawman. The silver baron runs the explain, and he’s poor enough, but his foreman is the really terrible Hombre in this group.Blade manages to acquire the better of these disagreeable guys, and a bloody battle of revenge begins.

The anecdote is surprising. There are twists and turns that you didn’t ogle coming. The characters are animated. The filming is astounding. Not only is there some tremendous vistas to consume in, but Director Sergio Martino, pays homage to Sam Peckinpah. His interweavings of two very different scenes is a fascianting understanding. You will have the merriment of dancing girls, splendid the crowd, while at the same time, a bloody mass abolish is going on in slow-mo outside of town. Martino is gracious at cutting these contrasting events together.
If you consider you may not like this one, because you recall a six-shooter to a hatchet in a Western, don’t exertion, Blade is plenty expedient with guns as well. As he puts it: he speaks more then one language!
A improbable job by Blue Underground with this one.It is presented in widescreen, has a very nice narrate, with estimable colors and sounds vast(Dolby Mono) . It may be viewed in either the Italian or English language track, and has optional English subtitles. The director talks about the film(this is a short feature, not as commentary during the film), there is a Unruffled Gallery, and there is a nice booklet with informative notes as well.
Get out the pasta maker, bask in with some vino, and saddle up for one heck of a going away party for the Spaghetti Western…..Laurie
“Blade” is a hatchet wielding badazz mofo bounty hunter who prances into a town hasten by a rich tyrant who has the entire town working in his silver mine. Blade’s an all around do-gooder but is also looking to decide a get with this tyrant. Blade manages to piss of the villians about two seconds after setting foot in town, and the showdown begins. Needless to say this film is hardly current. When viewing this film I can’t stress enough to NOT quiz anything remotely like Leone. I deem that’s where alot of the negative reviews near from-high expectations. I went into this film with the same mindset I’d exercise going into Death Wish 4: The Crackdown. I expected it to be comic, violent, and most of all, fun. And it is fun! Is this soundtrack as poor as the reviews below say? You bet it is! It’s bad! But in my eyes that only added more laughs to the film, and I’m overjoyed the soundtrack is as unpleasant as it is. These lesser Italian westerns have a thing with anachronistic music. Remember Django’s Tom Jones-esque theme? Mannaja’s might even be funnier than that. And I can’t forget mentioning a titanic performance by Italian film regular John Steiner(my homie Longinus from Caligula) as the villian. Don’t seek information from grade-A entertainment and you’ll have a winner with Mannaja. Reflect of it this way: If The Grand, Unpleasant and The Horrid is the Gremlins of westerns, then Mannaja is the Munchies of westerns. Check it out and be pleased those tunes.

August 21st, 2010 — The Virgin Suicides Tagged Download The Virgin Suicides Online, Stream The Virgin Suicides, The Virgin Suicides, The Virgin Suicides Streaming, Watch The Virgin Suicides Online
‘The Virgin Suicides’ is a pretty, understated, and tragic drama, punctuated by grand rock music of the unhurried ’70s, and featuring terrific performances, particularly by Kirsten Dunst, Josh Hartlett, and a nearly unrecognizable Kathleen Turner. What makes the film even more grand is that it is the directorial debut by Francis Ford Coppola’s daughter, Sofia, best known prior to this by her less-than-stellar performance in ‘Godfather 3′! Her sensitivity with this material establishes her as a director to be reckoned with, and a upright talent!
The film focuses on the five Lisbon sisters, pretty, yet repressed by a religious and overly protective mother (Turner), who encourages their vivid growth, but tries to block any sexual or emotional stirrings. The girls turn their passions into other channels, bonding tightly with one another, and viewing the world as outsiders. When the youngest attempts, then succeeds at killing herself, the family gains an unwanted notoriety, and a group of local boys launch to fancy the remaining sisters from afar, gathering materials, and creating a fantasy world about them.
Lux, the most fair and free-spirited of the sisters (Dunst), attracts the attentions of the most accepted boy in school, Tripp (Hartnett), who confuses raging hormones with treasure, and begins a campaign to ‘have’ her. Winning the respect of their father (James Woods, in another generous ‘against-type’ portrayal), he succeeds in wearing the mother down, and arranges ‘dates’ for the sisters, so he can seize Lux to the Homecoming Dance. The party provides the springboard for the tragedy that gives the film its name, and catapults the girls into icons that the boys who savor them can never forget.

There are many reasons to occupy this film; Coppola’s conception of how boys and girls interact, and her obvious touch with their issues about sexuality; Kirsten Dunst’s best performance to date, conveying both sweetness, and barely suppressed erotic desire; Kathleen Turner’s breakthrough as a character actress, sacrificing her glamorous persona for a stocky and frumpy matron. There are some fine cameos, as well, particularly Danny DeVito as a clueless psychiatrist, Scott Glenn as a family priest who offers platitudes instead of comfort, and Michael Paré as an older Tripp, reminiscing about Lux, and their ‘love’.
This is a very special film, one that you will not soon forget! I highly recommend it!
The Virgin Suicides is Sofia Coppola’s directorial debut, and its effectiveness illustrates that she’s better unhurried the camera than she is in front of it. (Most movie-goers will remember her ill-fated attempt to picture Michael Corleone’s daughter in The Godfather III.) Tragic, haunting, and sometimes darkly comedic, this movie leaves a strong impression in its telling of a legend about the destruction of innocence. The film is based on the book by Jeffrey Eugenides, which happens to be Coppola’s celebrated new. As a result, she felt that, in bringing the adaptation to the camouflage, she had a strong responsibility to be faithful to the source material.
The time frame is the mid-’70s and the setting is an upper class suburban community in Michigan. The film tells the shaded fable of the five Lisbon sisters – Cecilia (age 13, played by Hanna Hall), Lux (age 14, played by Kirsten Dunst), Bonnie (age 15, played by Chelsea Swain), Mary (age 16, played by A.J. Cook), and Therese (age 17, played by Leslie Hayman) – all of whom reach to a dreadful waste before finishing high school (this noteworthy is revealed during the introductory voiceover, which is provided by Giovanni Ribisi) . Miserable, neglected Cecilia is the first to give up on life – after surviving one suicide attempt, she is successful on the second try. In the wake of that event, the atmosphere surrounding the surviving sisters becomes grim, and their parents’ overprotectiveness threatens to suffocate them. For most children, mothers and fathers status boundaries; for the Lisbons, it’s iron bars.

The Virgin Suicides is filmed as a memory looking help through 25 years, and the point-of-view is that of a boy who was in like with one (or perhaps all) of the girls. As a result, the events recounted here offer a filtered perspective of the sisters and the complexities of their lives. Presenting things in this manner, The Virgin Suicides manages to be both poignant and touchingly nostalgic. Also, Coppola’s style is such that she avoids turning the film into a sudsy melodrama that glamorizes self-destruction.
One of The Virgin Suicides’ strengths is its ability to effectively win the nuances of teenage life during the ’70s. Coppola gets all of the small things right: the awkwardness of a chaperoned boy/girl party, the thrill of first fancy, and the nervousness of the pre-dance ritual (in this case, the homecoming dance, not the prom) . The film also boasts a solid soundtrack featuring a few songs that haven’t been endlessly recycled in other, modern, set-in-the-’70s features. In one key scene, music provides a link between the Lisbon girls and the outside world – it becomes their only viable means of communication and free expression.
Most of the cast is comprised of recent faces, all of whom do solid jobs. The more recognizable names include Kirsten Dunst as Lux (the girl with the most visible role), James Woods (as the girls’ father), and Kathleen Turner (as their mother) . Josh Hartnett (last seen as the guy who loses the girl in Here On Earth), who is slowly building a reputation in Hollywood, plays heartthrob High-tail Fontaine, whose awful treatment of Lux sets off a chain of events that leads to one of the movie’s tragedies. The Virgin Suicides also includes excerpts from a modern-day interview with a forty-something Shuffle (played by Michael Pare), who clearly has regrets about his treatment of Lux.
By using occasional bursts of humor and setting up the film as a collage of reminiscences, Coppola establishes a mood that is wistful and black, but not funereal. There are a few instances when the film gets a small heavy handed, but, for the most section, the tone is well modulated. Although Coppola almost certainly gained more than a puny abet from her notorious father in getting the production off the ground, the talent evident in her debut argues that this is not a case of unwarranted nepotism. The apple has not fallen far from the tree.

I could gape this documentary over and over. For those who may not know of the Kindertransport, it was a major worry to rep children out of Germany, Czechoslovakia and other countries and into Britain. Parents had to give up their children to strangers, hoping for the best.
Years later, the film-makers have interviewed loyal participants in the Kindertransport and done an unbelievable job. This one stands out for several reasons. First, the accounts, told from the point of notion those who were in the Kindertransport, are sparkling and involving, revealing the sense of wonder, awe and courage the children experienced as they were given up by their parents. The fetch which accompanies the movie adds poignancy and depth without being manipulative or overly sentimental – not an easy task to pull off. If you aloof have doubts about purchasing this movie, rent it first (it unprejudiced came out in a rental version) . One viewing and I guarantee you’ll want to gain your have copy.

This is one of the more fascinating documentaries I have seen. It accomplishes something wonderful–takes the viewer into the lives and minds of a handful of children whose parents managed to come by them onto Britain’s World War II Kindertransport relief grief.
After the March 1938 Anschluss, Spacious Britain agreed to collect all Jewish children whose care could be guaranteed, and by November 9 and 10 1938, 431 children were placed. Kristallnacht opened the floodgates, and by September 1939 another 9,354 children from Germany, Austria and Czechoslovakia streamed into Britain with benefit from 5 groups including B’nai Brith and the Refugee Children’s Movement; 1,850 more came via Youth Aliya and agricultural groups. More than 11,000 children were thus saved from Nazi fires that extinguished the lives of 6 million Jewish people, including 1 million children.
The statistics pale, however, next to the human faces and stories that this film provides. Viewers meet perhaps a dozen aging survivors of the trauma that both preserved their lives and separated them from their parents–usually, forever.

Not all parents could stand the strain. One woman recounts how her father pulled her out of the hiss window as it left the spot without her and all the horrors that befell her family afterwards. Each tale is more painful and enduring than the last.
These children endured the direst imaginable circumstances, and yet learned afterwards that far worse had happened to their families. There are as many layers as people here, all of whom made something of their lives. Yet the film is accessible to everyone–and especially meaningful for children who were themselves adopted. I first encountered Small Einsteins when I had to grasp a 6-hour road dart with a cousin and his wife who had a toddler who impartial had to be entertained. While the mother did her share to entertain the youngin’ for some stretches, the main weight of the load came to hold on the heads of Disney’s four sing-song educators. They bring tidings of a smarter generation of youth and a level of classical education that hasn’t existed for kids in ages. What matters though is their ability to do it in a design that keeps kids enraptured even when it repeats itself using Disney’s Fastplay option.

Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood had their position. Muppets, puppets and broken-down men can pass for entertainment with runt hues of education, but Slight Einsteins takes the opposite route. The entertainment clearly comes second in terms of importance with a place curriculum for each 24-minute episode absorbing a famed allotment of classical music, basic functions and operations. How does a fire truck work? What are the duties alive to with owning a pet? The concepts are all quite rudimentary and simplistic in their presentation but in such a contrivance that kids latch on to the ideas and play along.

A volcano is on the verge of erupting and the Itsy-bitsy Einsteins jump at the chance to consume Rocket’s transformative abilities. Pair that with a fraction of music by Tchaikovsky and you’ve got a catchy lesson about ladders, hoses and the jaws of life. Yes. The jaws of life. They cleverly weave an emergency tool which pries the crooked metal of automotive wreckage away from the victims huddled inside into a children’s program. This may display my age but when I was young a special on fire trucks would have focused on the ladder, the hose and a Dalmatian. I can’t decided whose generation is getting cheated.
“Melody the Music Pet”
When a musical animal misses its chance to run on the pet narrate, the Small Einsteins gang takes it under their flee and names it Melody. They depart along looking for Melody’s imprint for the drawl and, wouldn’t you know it, learn about music along the blueprint.
“Carmine’s Great Hasten”
Carmine should be more upset with the automanufacturers than anyone else. A car made from musical instrument parts is unbiased a poor thought. Distinct, it offers kids a chance to status a large prix hasten in a musical context, which proves educational all the diagram through, but it’s quiet objective bad engineering. It’s an tantalizing endeavor and will most likely win the kids starry-eyed staring at the conceal.
“Mr. Penguin’s Ice-Cream Adventure”
Penguins. Ice Cream. One is a cute animal that’s gotten rotund court press from the film industry in the last few years and the other is a snack children cherish. When you consider of it like that, it’s a colorful tactic. Kids are gaga over the tuxedoed bird and delightful treat and while they’re looking the other map the Microscopic Einsteins are cramming a lesson on music down their throats. A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.

What makes Petite Einsteins such a considerable tool is the interactive factor. I haven’t viewed the entire plot but so far the photography and sound are quite favorable and, in fact, righteous in Chained For Life and Child Bride. Chained For Life deals with trusty Siamnese twin sisters who are improbable singers/entertainers (in dependable life, too) in vaudeville. One is courted and exploited by another entertainer in the display powerful to the chagrin of the other twin. What eventually occurs is somewhat far-fetched but serene possible. I won’t raze it but the twins are treated with dignity throughout the epic which also features an staunch very consuming variety/vaudeville expose. Child Bride concerns the dignity and rights of young pre-teen and teenage girls and, as the title denotes, a very serious social announce in the U.S.A. at one time. A teacher from the same mountain community (and in trouble) advocates for a law forbidding this practice. There are also other conflicts within the mountain community, some quite unsightly, but it’s an titillating memoir, especially the unexpected ending/solution.

I objective recieved a message on ModelMayhem message from Frank West. I consider I will definitely pick this movie, as well as work with him!
My review is for the DVD rather than the movie as I already have a review for this movie under the regular version rather than this deluxe version which you can read. I bought and liked Hookers In Revolt, but I made the mistake of lending it out and never got it encourage so I decided to pick support another copy for myself and spring the extra 4 bucks for the deluxe and would say it was well worth it. The movie itself is huge and the movie is definitely enhanced with all the extras. The regular version comes with out-takes (very comic) and the trailer. This version has that along with commentary which adds insight to the movie, a droll featurette, interviews and auditions for the hookers, I mean actresses (fair kidding) . The enormous thing about the extras is that it’s not impartial humdrum filler it’s stuff that is engaging and worth watching and at this sign it’s tranquil cheaper than the average DVD with procedure more bang for the buck!
